The one game where there is no happy ending no matter how you play. All endings lead to a bitter conclusion where the witch gets away and leaving the player wondering how they could have lead the real witch to her freedom and causing Viola's suffering. ah, but it's games like these that deserve praise. It's one of those games that lures you in thinking that she's sweet and innocent, only to destroy you by revealing who you are playing as.

This artwork though, hits home even more so than in game. By showing Viola's "soul" in Ellen's torn body, it brings forth a stronger emotional reaction to how this scene will end. With Viola staring down the barrel of her father's rifle as he unknowingly kills his own daughter and takes the physical appearance Viola (Ellen) with him. Ellen is free to continue her ruse till the end of time, switching bodies as she sees fit and gaining, essentially, eternal life. The game itself is not scary, it's the ending that truly hits every player hardest.

No thank you for making such an accurate presentation of how Viola would have felt. The illustration of one person within the other is used a lot in anime shows and is quite effective. I remember in Black Cat when Train has only one bullet to kill Creed that the ghost of Saya appeared next to Train putting her hands on top of Train's hands to give the killing shot pushing forth that Saya loved Train. Same thing here where Viola's soul trapped in Ellen's body is crying out for her father in her mind but out of Ellen's body is nothing more than blood gurgling.

If watching the ending made me ball out, this deviation made me ball out thrice as much. Poor Viola.
